conversations with lawson & soth

I have transitioned into creating photomontages inspired by the photobooks of influential photographers. By incorporating my own Latino voice, I aim to establish new conversations with their work. I appropriated book images of two contemporary photographers who are known for capturing American culture: Deana Lawson’s self-titled book and Alec Soth’s Sleeping by the Mississippi.

My creative process has become non-linear, as I do not intend to confine the images to a single framed plane. Instead, I focus on multiple images that reflect an inner dialogue I am having with the photographers. This approach allows the visual conversation to flow in any direction.
